Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein comes to Netflix
Oscar Isaac leads a haunting new take.

Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein is finally arriving on Netflix this November, and it’s shaping up to be a dark, emotional rollercoaster. Oscar Isaac stars as Dr. Victor Frankenstein - brilliant, tormented, and obsessed - while Jacob Elordi takes on the role of the Monster, who looks both terrifying and tragic.
Del Toro, the maestro of gothic horror and heartfelt storytelling, has been chasing this project for years. He first read Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein as a kid and has poured a lifetime of passion into this adaptation. Expect a sumptuous, hauntingly beautiful film that dives deep into the complex relationship between creator and creation.
Joining Isaac and Elordi are Mia Goth as Elizabeth Lavenza and Christoph Waltz in a key role, rounding out a strong cast that promises layers of drama and tension.
The teaser trailer dropped at Netflix Tudum 2025 and the visuals look great with a gripping score by Alexandre Desplat, and that perfect mix of beauty and dread. Isaac’s Victor Frankenstein is intense and utterly compelling, capturing the genius and madness of the character.
If you’ve loved del Toro’s past work like Pan’s Labyrinth or The Shape of Water, this one’s going to hit the right notes. Frankenstein looks set to be one of Netflix’s most anticipated releases this year.
